有个别同学在翻译中遇到数字转换的难题

由于中英文思维不同

英文三位数一分隔隔

中文四位一分

这也导致了很多同学在翻译中遇到数字就败下阵来

数字转化法学会了对口译也有很大的帮助

首先需要中文中的分隔单位

个、十、百、千、万、十万、百万、千万、

亿、十亿、百亿、千亿、兆、十兆等等

英文中

one、ten、one hundred、one thousand、one hundred thousand、

one million、ten million、one hundred million、one billion等

如下图

还可以这样记忆：

中译英：

一万 10 thousand    一亿 100 million     十万 100 thousand 

十亿 1 billion          百万1 million         百亿10 billion     

千万 10 million       千亿100 billion       万亿 1 trillion      

英译中：

1 thousand =千     1 million =百万       

  1 billion =十亿     10 thousand =万   

10 million =千万    10 billion =百亿 

100 thousand =十万    100 million =亿       

100 billion =千亿      1 thrillion =万亿

四位数数字的转换，对于大多数同学来说，还是能够handle的，超过一定的数目之后，再加上翻译时粗心大意，很容易导致错译。

数字错译的原因是

英汉两种语言的计数单位不完全一样

它们的最大区别是

汉语中有“万”和“亿”这两个计数单位，英语没有

而英语的 million(百万)和 billion(十亿)这两个计数单位

汉语里却是在它们的前面加上十、百、千而构成的复合计数单位

于是形成了英汉数字的不同表示法

根据美国英语中每逢四位数就要变更计数单位的规则，记数时采用国际习惯每隔三位数用一逗号分开，即 1,000 以上的数：

先从后向前数，每三位数加一“,”，第一个“,”号前为 thousand，第二个“，”号前为 million，第三个“，”号前为 billion(在英国英语国家中为 thousand million)，然后一节一节表示。

例如：123,456,895,167，

读成 one hundred (and) twenty three billion four hundred (and) fifty-six million eight hundred (and) ninety-five thousand one hundred and sixty-seve

从这一读法中不难看出：

除了  trillion， billion，和 million 外，其他数字都是百、十、个的反复使用

当然数字直接写上，大家都能够用中文表达出来。如果是用上述的英文表达出来，则需要将其先转化为数字，再用中文的四次分隔来划分单位。

听力中，注意听以 trillion，billion，million 和 thousand，一定要听清楚多少个 trillion，多少个 billion，多少个 million 和多少个 thousand，及时记下并在它们的后面分别用“，”分开，没有具体数字的就打上“0”。当然 trillion 的前面还有一些更大的计数词，其规律都是一样的。

注意数字的书写表达方法。一般说来，英语数字的书写方法有以下三种：

(1)

如果数字能用一个单独单词来表达，就直接写出该单词。如：“一”、“九”、“十五”、“八十”就分别写作 one，nine，fifteen 和 eighty。

(2)

如果数字要用一个复合数词或几个数词来表达，如：“二十一”、“九十九”、“一百零一”、“一千八百七十六”等等，通常就写出阿拉伯数字“21”、“99”、“101”、“1，876”等等。

如果数字是比较大的整数，常常要用阿拉伯数字加英语单词一起来表达。如 “一百六十万”、“四十五亿” 就写成“1.6 million”和“4.5 billion”等等

结合上表

可知，一百万=one million，六十万=600 thousand=0.6million

翻译时很少会写成one million and six hundred thousand

一般会往简洁的方面靠拢，所以一百六十万译为1.6million

四十亿=four billion，五亿=five hundred million=0.5 billion

同样译为4.5billion

中文中经常遇到一些模糊数字，如“几个”、“十几个”、“几十个”、“成百上千个”等等。

几个——some; a few; several; several; a number of 

两、三个——two or three 

五、六个——five or six 

十几个——more than ten; over a dozen; less/no less/no more than twenty 

三十来个——about/ around thirty 

几十个——dozens of 

几十年——decades 

十几岁——in one's teens 

四十出头——a little/a bit over forty 

五十岁左右——more or less fifty (years old); about fifty (years old)

五点左右——around five o’clock 

三天左右——three days or so 

大约 150 米处——somewhere about 150 meters 

好几百——hundreds of 

成千上万，千千万万——thousands of 

几十万——hundreds of thousands of 

几百万——millions of
